Maria Sharapova is a world famous tennis player hailing from Russia. Maria began playing tennis when she was only 4 years old. At the age of 7 she and her father moved to the US so she could study at the world famous Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. Maria started her tennis career on the junior circuit in 2001 when she was 14. She finished the season with 25 wins and 3 losses and then performed even better the following year with 26 wins. Then in 2003 she joined the WTA's professional circuit finishing with an impressive 34-11 record. She has gone on to win several titles and to be ranked as one of the best players in the world.
